Raahe – Day 9

25th October, 2018

We woke up to a stunning view – the snow was falling!  On the way to school, we admired the white, pure blanket and its sparkling reflections in Raahe’s buildings.

Group Better,  who had already finished their shooting, were cleaning, collecting files and arranging them.

Group One got to continue work almost immediately, as everything had already been organised the day before. With two animation sets and a good share of duties, the progress was quick.

For lunch we ate the rest of the food from the day before, and then ordered some pizza 🙂

Last scene, the death of the King, was animated by Ms Kate with Pekka’s assistance, as we considered it to be a great honour to have them involved in shooting that specific scene.

The last scene we shot was definitely the most exciting to work on. Some group members,  two photographers, Pekka and Ms Kate gathered to take part in the performance. In this scene, the King’s Beskid death is shown by crushing the ceramic puppet.

With this accent, Group One finished shooting.

Again we had a film evening This time we watched a film based on Shakespeare’s drama – “Much ado about nothing “

Raahe – Day 2

16 October, 2018

We worked in groups. We put the finishing touches to our storyboards, began to arrange the scenes to see if the items go well together.  If they didn’t, we would still have some time to add or replace things.

Today’s lunch was hamburgers, the students choice 🙂 There was a vegetarian option as well. There is a weekly custom in Lybecker called “Favourite Food Tuesday”, when the kitchen serves food that most students voted for.

After project classes,  Omar showed us some video games. In the afternoon, we went for a walk around the streets of Raahe. We went to the Gulf of Bothnia (Pohjanlahti in Finnish :)),  taking advantage of beautiful weather and fresh air.

In the evening, Zuza and Mikołaj prepared delicious pizza and again we had dinner together and watched a film.

The preparations to Mobility 2

15th May, 2018

Polish project group had a meeting for the first time after the Finnish students had left. We were informed about the details of our journey to Finland.

It’s settled 🙂 We are setting off on 14th October, 2018 at 10.25 and coming back on 26th October, 2018 at 21.30.  Our teachers told us all the important information we need in connection with the mobility to Finland. We were told what documents we need to prepare,  what kind of clothing we should bring and also what the acceptable luggage size and weight is.

Going back to the project, we reviewed the list of things that need to be done and decided who is going to be responsible for them and when they need to be finished.

Nowy Wiśnicz – Day 9

26th April, 2018

Both groups continued working on the project.

Group Better has already done some fleece puppets. Groups One’s hot glue puppet princesses still need their clothes to be sewed. Unfortunately, paper mâche technique failed,  so today we tried wallpaper glue and newspaper as the material for the Knight. What will be the result this time?

Nowy Wiśnicz – Day 6

23th April, 2018

Polish and Finnish students and teachers went to the primary school in Nowy Wiśnicz to do an animation workshop for kids.
They worked on the animation of regional legends. The students of primary school had already decided on the legends. We showed them and helped them to prepare backgrounds and the characters using cut-outs.
Those who stayed at school continued work on backgrounds and characters.

Nowy Wiśnicz – Day 4

19th April, 2018

We started with an interesting workshop about animation with Karolina Borgiasz,  who graduated from our school four years ago and is now studying at Film School in Łódź.

Then, both groups continued working on the project. We also did research on more techniques that we could use for making puppets, props and backgrounds. For example, crystalline resin and paper mâche.

Nowy Wiśnicz – Day 3

18th April, 2018

Another busy day.

We continued the work from yesterday. The Teams went to the textiles workshop and tried painting on water technique, that will be used as the sky in both legends.

Team Better designed backgrounds showing actual places in Raahe as well as  some props. Team One decided that princesses faces will be made in the hot glue print technique and Karolina Shiro sculpted the head.

The group started making the clay mountains for the background.

Storyboards and animation techniques

13th March, 2018

We met to discuss and present our storyboards for two chosen stories, The St. Kinga’s Ring Legend and The Vistula River Legend.

At the previous meeting we divided ourselves into two groups. Both groups prepared various storyboards and many options of puppets for the two legends.

At the end of the meeting Mr. Nieć described different animation techniques and answered all our questions about the details.
